Ok, I have been putting off any commentary or statements about the future of online poker for the simple fact that at this moment nobody knows for sure the full impact of the recently passed bill by congress to limit the funding from financial institutions to online gaming sites.
I have been getting countless emails and phone calls from friends asking “what’s going on” so here is a quick summary of what I believe is the case:
Several major sites have indeed closed there doors to U.S. players and while this was alarming to many you have to realize that mostly these were publicly traded company’s such as PartyPoker who’s stock plummeted as soon as the bill was passed, The only way to maintain was to take the company in a new direction – Frankly uncertainty in the stock exchange is far more harmful to their bottom line than the certainty of no U.S. business.
FullTiltPoker.com of which I endorse has stated and maintain that they have no intentions of leaving the U.S. market, As well as Ultimatebet, DoylesRoom & FullContactPoker to name a few.
In a nutshell Online poker is here to stay, A six BILLION dollar a year industry will not just fold up and die out over this bill, as to whether or not you will be using Neteller to fund your poker account in the future that is unsure at this time however If they don’t someone will come along who will.
These are only my opinions – Like I said nobody knows for sure. As far as I go – I am still playing online and plan to continue. I have been playing primarily in the Poker rooms in Arizona lately but merely for the enjoyment, I have not been avoiding playing online nor did I withdraw the bulk of my online funds.
As soon as more info is released I will make more comments.
