Ok, Just to catch you up from my last post – My trip to Topeka was a complete disaster. I arrived on Thursday night, which I like to do so that I can spend a few hours swimming and enjoying the Jacuzzi. Friday morning I get up fresh and ready for a long session. I arrive to Harrah?s at 11:45 and am seated in a $2-5 NL table by 12:15 the amazing thing about this trip was that everything I always prey does not happen – happened all day long! I had KK 3 times and all 3 times another player held AA. I was dealt AA twice in 17 hours and both times I was in the BB and everybody folded around. I flopped a set to another players set TWICE! I flopped a set and another player turned a str8 TWICE! I played 17 hours and was cold decked all night, $2-5 is by no means a high limit game however the fact that I only lost $900 in those 17 hours is a testament to how well I was reading my opponents and that I was able to avoid steaming off $500 left and right. I felt Miserable after that session however after replaying all the hands and all the coolers that I was dealt I felt that I had actually won, I was setup to lose at least 4k during that session and was able to make some fantastic lay downs. So, with my mother in town to visit I decided to cut the business trip down and spend time with her.
DOH! Time to go to the party – will write more when I get back…
Ok, where was I? Oh yeah – Mom, Our visit was very nice and it was sad to have to take her back to the airport. I really miss seeing my mom all the time and her being around my boys. I am very excited to get back to Arizona and spend lots of time with my family.
Robert’s birthday is Sunday so we had a party for him at the “Strikers” bowling alley here in Downs. Robert is going to be 9 years old and that is simply unreal!
Since my trip I have been playing allot online but not really playing to make money but to sharpen up my mixed game. I am in “Spring Training” mode. I have played 20-30 H.O.R.S.E SNg’s/day and my stats are quite frankly AWESOME! My worst day thus far was 26 tourneys and 7 out of the monies! I get allot of 3rd place finishes but I am very happy with that as I am sharpening up and proving to be a great ALL AROUND player – Not just a Hold’em player!
I have also devoted some time to adding a new subject in the “how to play” section of this site. I had to sit and write about Tilt as I believe that controlling your emotions makes the difference between a good winning day / and an ok winning day, Also, avoiding tilt enables you to weather the bad times and limit what losses are unavoidable and not steam -off even more money. I am very stoked that FullTiltPoker.com is really starting to gather some Omaha Hi/low players; it used to be hard to find a game of any substance a few months ago however today you can regularly find $10-20 and $20-40 games. I have been playing quite a bit of Omaha lately and will post some interesting hands from my last $30 – 60 game tomorrow.
